At Eyecare Associates, we are pleased to offer a wide range of optometry services to our community. This begins with an eye exam providing a thorough medical evaluation of the eye, as well as the determination of a prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
A Comprehensive Eye Exam consists of:
- A review of personal and family health history
- Evaluation of your vision at distance and near
- Determine if you are nearsighted, farsighted, have astigmatism or presbyopia
- Assessment of your eyes’ ability to work together
- Measure your ability to focus
- Evaluation of your peripheral and binocular vision
- Eye health examination (including Glaucoma, Cataract and retinal evaluation)
- Diabetic and Hypertensive eye evaluation if appropriate
- Photo documentation of the inside of your eye
- Report to your medical doctor with your approval
Vision Exams for Children
The American Optometric Association recommends that pre-school children receive a complete vision exam at the ages of three years and five years. It is particularly important that a child has a complete evaluation in the summer prior to entry into Kindergarten. While in school, since so much of learning is dependent on good vision, annual evaluations are recommended.
Vision Exams for Adults
We recommend a yearly eye exam for adults – not only to detect and to diagnose vision changes or problems but, also to maintain eye health. For example, glaucoma, a disease caused by increased pressure in the eye, commonly goes unnoticed by adults. Regular vision examinations are also important for the prevention of vision problems created or aggravated by today’s academic and professional demands.
21st-century lifestyles demand more from our vision than ever before. Adults in our technological society constantly use their near vision at work and at home. C.V.S. (Computer Vision Syndrome) is one of the fastest growing health concerns in the workplace today. Environmental stresses on the visual system including excessive computer use or close work can sometimes induce headaches and/or visual difficulties which can be effectively treated with corrective lenses.
Our Optometric Services
Comprehensive Eye Exam
Most importantly, a comprehensive eye exam includes the evaluation of your eye health which includes a glaucoma test, tests for cataracts, and a look at the macula and retina. Also important is the determination of prescription for eyeglasses, evaluation of visual skills. Determining a correct glasses prescription can be a difficult exam. We promise to take all the time you need to get an exact prescription.
Contact Lens Evaluation
The cornea, the part of the eye that a contact lens sits on, needs oxygen to stay healthy and clear. An improper contact lens fit can damage your cornea. Since many problems can occur with no symptoms, we need to be sure the lens you are wearing are fitting properly, are the right size and curve, comfortable and allowing enough oxygen to reach the cornea. We also look for signs that your lens solutions may not be cleaning your lenses properly.
Contact Lens Fitting
The three most important parts of a successful contact lens prescription are good eye health, all-day comfortable lens wear, and good vision. A contact lens fit makes sure you get the right lens to meet these goals. Like shoes, when you try multiple lenses of the same size and power, it is likely that one pair will be the most healthy, clear and comfortable. The fitting process includes 3-10 days of lens trials, to be sure everything is perfect for you. For new wearers, we also spend the necessary time training you in putting the lenses in, taking them out, and showing you how to take care of them.
If detected early, and treated properly, glaucoma can be managed. We have the skills to monitor your glaucoma condition closely, to maintain good control.
Contact Lens Studies
Dr. Movic has done over 125 different contact lens and contact lens solutions studies for many of the large manufacturers. This gives us a chance to try many products that are not yet available.
Manufacturer goals are to develop products that increase health benefits, improve vision and lengthen comfortable wearing time. The best way for them to determine if they are meeting these goals is to ask you to try these products and give your opinion. All of the projects are FDA monitored.
We also provide eyewear styling, specialized lens design, and sports vision.
